Re: Mammoth Ride

Silvertip, I just want to chime in on this topic. I completely agree that Mammoth Lakes and the Inyo NF is a great riding area. I've been going there a lot the last couple of years. In both May and June so far this year. A great combination of topography and geology - mountains, forest, craters, lav...

Scott,

It sounds like an interesting area. If I didn't have company coming in this weekend, I would like to join you.

Have a great time.

I also stopped in. I was not really impressed. Perhaps because I was not looking for a boat. A lot of boats, travel trailers, or 5th wheelers. There is an RV show comming in March (I think) if that is your interest. I think there will be a boat show coming soon also, again if that is your interest. ...

I had a good time. I got a chance to see some new riding areas. And "yes", avejoe was right. Both the Rincon and I got muddy. Kodiak managed to winch one tree out of the trail. But another, larger one was a little too much for the combined winches of ATV'er and avejoe. ATV'er and Kodiak - Thanks for...

See you then.

ATV'er,

If the offer is still open, I'd like to join you Saturday morning. I need to get my machine out for a a ride. From the description, it sounds like something I could enjoy.

Since I don't know Colfax very well, meeting at the Chevron Station at 9:45 would help.

Looks like you had fun. A couple of quick questions: How is Foresthill Road out to China wall? (I'm running a 2wd pickup.) And where is the turnoff to Deadwood Cemetary?

Thanks

Trainman, Welcome. There are various brands on here. As to Brand X being better than Brand Y, I leave that debate to others. When I was a teenager, we have to have wonderful, rather pointless arguements about Ford versus Chevy, etc. Now, I figure people are happy with whatever they bought/ride. Most...

Lori, Well, I took the Big Horns up to Lola Montez Lake area today. The tires did fine, although there wasn't much challenge except for some snow and ice patches. I, on the other hand, froze. So much for jeans, a sweatshirt, and a windbreaker when riding in freezing temperatures. By the way, I broug...

OK guys. You sold me. I just put on new Big Horns. As I understand it, these new tires will let me be faster, a better rider, lose weight, and attract beautiful women. I can't wait.

Great pictures. I was up there about a week before you. No snow then. Pretty but certainly different when you were there.

I was there yesterday. Not a member but talked my way in. I think it is open to the public tomorrow. Regardless, it was a mob scene with long lines everywhere. It will hopefully settle down after this 2 day limited opening. Very nice facility.

Ken, Yes, I would like to tag along some time. Although I must confess that looking at some of the pctures from you and others makes me doubt I would tackle some of those trails. I was up at Fordyce Lake on the 24th, but I used Rattlesnake rather than the Fordyce trail. I also popped over to Lake St...

Ken, Actually I'm a Polaris fan. My son in Flagstaff has a Sportman 700. He's the reason I bought the new Rincon. I had a Honda Rancher 350 ES and I was perfectly happy until he came to visit, brought his Polaris, and let me ride it. Until then, I didn't realize that an ATV could be that comfortable...

Glad to be aboard. I don't mind being a Honda Man as long as I don't have to defend Honda or criticize some other brand. Frankly I think they are all pretty good. I was up at Fordyce Lake and Lake Sterling Wednesday. Very deserted. I didn't see any other riders - atv or motorcycle. I've been going u...
