Re: Rockin' Cottonwood Canyon and Bear Valley

The one near Ball Pein was tough enough for me (I hate the feeling of tipping back when the front end walks up a step or rock) so this was a kind of "conditioning" ride. I learned to trust it a lot more. Then I came to the 2nd hill and that was really one with the "I hope I make that" 'cause there w...

Rockin' Cottonwood Canyon and Bear Valley

Took a trip out to Little Truckee Summit for a ride. I couldn't decide on Perazzo Meadows or Treasure Mountain - so I did Cottonwood Road. Last ride out there for me was a tour that Grizzly Guy took me on, including part of Bear Valley and on down Trosi Canyon, Badenaugh Canyon etc. Fun ride. So, I ...

Like the ride, we're still not sure if it happened. Waiting for pictures. LOL.

Re: Wolverine - old name, new machine!

So, I found out the net moves with the door - clever! The only other thing I would think about is the stability - one thing I do like about the Wolverine is the wide stance and lower center of gravity. I HATE feeling tippy on the quad and it's one thing I like about the Wolverine. Watching some of t...

Re: Wolverine - old name, new machine!

A few thoughts. They seem to be pretty different machines - the Wolverine is 708cc, whereas the Pioneer 700 is 675cc and the small one is only 475cc. The transmissions are electric shift vs. the CVT in the Yamaha. I'm not a fan of the net thing on the door in the Honda, I like the side thing that ho...

Bad behavior

This annoys me - someone did a donut around a tree after crossing Monumental Creek just to do it. Like trash, this is what gives us a bad rep. http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x5/grizzly55/P6190217_zpseafyc1bj.jpg The road is in the background. http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x5/grizzly55/P6190...

Re: 11th Annual Mr. Miyagi Memorial - Sep 23-25, 2016

We're still absorbing the beginning of the summer. Too early to think about the end! :-)

But I"m wondering which it is - SEPT 18, 19 and 20. or Sept 23-25. I would not mind missing some work!

Re: CLOSED TNF Trails - Ride Them While You Can!

So after all is said and done, after Eric's 107 page manifesto (did he ever submit it?), not a whole lot is changed out there. Sometimes I think that after the greenies dragged the FS through the whole process, it's half-heartedly done (look at the maps to see what half-hearted means) and things jus...

Re: Dutch flat

I've ridden off Lowell Hill and such quite a long time ago but all the private property etc. and too many people to be comfortable with leaving the truck/trailer around chased me off to the forest areas. I also used to play around the railroad but UP has gotten very aggressive about trespassers.

New camera redux

Well, despite my post in 2011, the little Canon SD950 continued to serve me well even though it had a lens aberration on one side. Alas, now it has further degraded - the zoom hardly works and gets stuck. It's been a great companion since 2009 - most of the pictures here have been taken with it. The...
