I parked at China Wall and rode out to Deadwood Cemetery. I dropped into the the Middle Fork of the American on a fantastic road that lost 1,500 vert in about a mile. It ended at a great spot on the river with some old mining equipment.

The snowmobiles had compacted the snow so it was perfect to ride.

A great way to end 2007.

Happy New Year everybody!

Looks like you had fun. A couple of quick questions: How is Foresthill Road out to China wall? (I'm running a 2wd pickup.) And where is the turnoff to Deadwood Cemetary?

Thanks

Bill

I got up there around 9:30 and the last mile before China Wall was pretty icy. Four WD was not a necessity, but I am glad I had it. Two WD with the quad in the bed would be better than pulling a trailer.

The turn for Deadwood Rd. is about 3.8 miles past China Wall. It's a great road with some fantastic views and a lot of history. The cemetery is at the end of the road, 8 miles off Foresthill Rd.

I highly recommend dropping into the North Fork of the Middle Fork of the American on an old mining road. The top of the road is located at N39 05.255 W120 39.886.
