2007 Vortex 5th wheel (285FW)
Well after about 2 years of owning this and only a few trips, the wife convinced me of the need to sell this to get an actual RV (Diesel Pusher) instead.
I loved this for the pure ability to tow my quads or other recreational toys, but did not realize that when I want to go camping at say a lake, I cannot town my boat. . . So am looking to sell this here. . .
In great condition. . . selling for 25k (Firm as that is what I owe on it give or take)
Stated Length 28'5" (Actual length though measured is 29' 4")
Width 8'6"
Height 11'6"
Hitch Weight 1,900 lbs
Dry Weight 8,700 lbs
email me dkodet at hotmail dot com with any additional questions
here are some Pictures.
Kitchen:
Fridge and door Entry:
Dining Area, makes into bed
Where the magic happens:

I think his overall length might be too long to be legal, maximum overall length of truck, trailer and boat is 65' in California

i called the CHP about that and the overall length has to be less than 65 feet and you have to have a class A commercial license, so most likely a no go...

and that kids is why we never listen to Uncle Larry or Uncle Ken on where to camp. . .oldtrucks wrote:Wow, that cleaned up real nice. I didn't think you would ever get all that mud out
(FYI to anyone actually looking to buy, this was never really sunk in the mud as that is a trailer and not a 5th wheel, not to insult your intelligence or skills of observation. . . )

You could definitely get a smaller trailer...for 2 ATV's back there. It's a 28 foot 5th wheel, but only 21 or so behind the truck, since it's a 5th.
15 ft for the truck, 22 feet for the 5th wheel...you still under 40feet total....so you easily have another 25 feet. So you could tow my ATV trailer at 17 ft and bring another 3 ATV's
The tricky part is you gotta get a Class A.

Obviously you haven't pulled a tape on your truck. Our trucks are over 20 feet long, so he's probably sitting at ~ 42-45 feet long.
Like you said, the biggest deal is the class A license. From what I have read, when you take you driving test, you have to do it with the setup you are getting the license for.
Dusty needs one of those diesel toy haulers like an Endura.

My bad....I haven't taken the tape measure out. At 45' you still have another 20 feet. That's my trailer - 3 feet. So 63' feet total.Kendo wrote:Obviously you haven't pulled a tape on your truck. Our trucks are over 20 feet long, so he's probably sitting at ~ 42-45 feet long.
When we were in Utah, I probably saw 4 or 5 units doing the 5th + trailer...of course...no class A required in Nevada or Utah. Freaking Kalifornia.
