That's the way I like it!

This is the kind of thing you like to come across - none!!

Found that at Fordyce lake. Lots of jeepers out Saturday. Probably 15-20 trailers at Cisco Grove Campground alone)

A view to the east from Signal Peak:

A view out the old Southern Pacific lookout on Red Mountain (abandoned 1934):

The lookout itself:

The way out - from the lookout back to Signal Peak (no goat trail for me!)

If you've ever been up the Signal Peak road, you may have noticed what looks to be a mine on the east side. We took a hike to it - not much to see, it's been blocked off.

There's a reddish blotch in a sea of gray. You can see a little bit of a trail on the other side, it's a little hard to catch on the road side. This picture is taken from the last turnout before you start heading to the peak.

It's a really odd place for a mine.

Cool! I didn't know there was a mine there either.

P.S. - If you like exploring for mines, then Plumas NF is a good place to go.
There are so many mines that they actually paint signs on trees telling you not to make any more.

If you drive up Bowman Lake Rd, there's a spot where it crosses a creek and there are numerous mining claim signs along the road. The name of the claim? "Not Likely".

I have to get up into the Plumas more. I also am intrigued by the amount of stuff to see down near Tonopah and whatnot. I gotta get out more!

Brett and I hiked out to those mines. But we didnt it in the ice and snow. I don't recommend it with snow and Ice. It could get bad quick.
