Some snow on FR-19 and FR-38
Running out of riding season - had to go check out some snow. I took the Grizz 660 with the larger tires to see how they do in snow - they are great! Admittedly it's not a lot of snow (4-5 inches) but last year the 700 with the 25" tires bogged in a few places and the 660 had no problem climbing.
Despite the threatening skies, I knew we weren't getting any more snow today.
Signal Peak is well dusted. The snow level is right about where the goat trail starts.
Most of the roads had a uniform coating of snow, only the south slopes had some of it melted off.
Huysink Lake
Forest Road 38, in case you forgot where you were (no junction or anything - they just are here for some reason)
Turned around on a log landing and a berm turned out to be a log. I high-sided on it and had to use the winch to get off it. The stupid thing would not engage after reeling out the cable at first - enough with the junk winches. Time to get a Warn for this quad. The dirt is dry underneath the snow - hence the spray of dust on the snow.
Another view of Signal Peak, with the railroad below.
A view out to the valley - it was REALLY clear today. The Sutter Buttes were prominent in the valley and the coast range was plenty visible too.
Looking toward Giant Gap
At the end of the road on Quartz Mountain/Lawton
Looking across the North Fork canyon to Tadpole Point
After than was a pretty high speed run back to the truck at Lake Valley. Plowing through the snow sure sucks up the gas - got back with 1/4 tank for only about 30 miles.
Here is a nice view of Bear Valley with Lake Spaulding Dam in the background.
I wonder what the miners would have thought of the Bear River Canal? (pretty full here at the end of the season as they dump down the reservoirs...)

that looks like the right amount of snow to me. Just enough to have fun but not overly worried.

We'll still have more days like this...since some of this will melt.
A REALLY fun ride...is blasting around Pierce OHV with about 1 foot of snow. =D>

Nice! It was great seeing the contrast between the other thread (Signal Peak) and your snow photos.

It would more accurately be worded, "isn't that the guy who plows the road for the tree huggers with money from the bay area, but doesn't want anyone else to use it. "
Answer. Yes.
