My Miyagi Photos
A great Saturday ride, I enjoyed meeting new friends! It was a dusty morning, and a coolish, wet and non-dusty afternoon! (and a leisurely wait for lunch!!)
Before heading up Meadow Lake Road from the 07 road, I made a quick visit to Jackson Meadows Dam. English Mountain is the peak, we will soon be passing it on the way to Washington. I encountered the broken-down Mr. Green along the way, but he got things sorted out and arrived at the campground shortly after.
The Summit City Banditos.
We crossed French Creek:
And SPLOOSH!!
Catfish.....
... at Catfish Lake! (doh!)
The Sierra Buttes are plenty visible along the 41 road.
This is The Little Cloud That Could... pleasant and fluffy now, it grew so fast that a few miles later we started feeling raindrops and it formed with others into a big bunch of lightning, hail and rain (which we missed while we lounged at the Washington Hotel).
Story of the morning - DUST.
Made it!
The Washington Hotel is an old building!
Lots of "decor".
Looking down at the Yuba River from the hotel deck.
On the way back, the roads, once above Washington, were delightfully wet down. We took a fast tour around Celina Ridge to a nice view of Bowman Lake (sorry, I did not snap a picture, forgetting I should do it anyway even if I have others)
We found the area at Meadow with lots of clouds.
It's remarkably peaceful when the sound of internal combustion engines subsides.
Took me awhile to notice GrizzlyGuy (Eric) had joined us Campfire time was fun!
Mini Me was warming himself by the fire.
Lori showed us what Mini Me was up to while we were gone.
Meadow Lake at sunset (it wasn't much of one, since there were clouds off to the west, but still very cool stuff)
The twilight brought lots of interesting lighting.
I had to leave (4 to 6 mph over that nasty road to the top) but it was a fun day. Hope you guys got to do the night ride and that it doesn't rain too much on Fordyce!

Re: My Miyagi Photos
Thanks for all the pics, awesome as usual!
That "SPLOOSH" shot is me
It was nice to finally meet you and the rest of the gang, I had a great time.
I have a bunch of pics too including Sunday's Fordyce run... shall I add them to this thread?

As you wish - I'm fine with tagging on here, but you don't have to - you can create your own thread if you want.

From Cisco Grove?
You would be able to, but BOY...long day. You'd have to go up Rattlesnake, cross at the Committee crossing. Then do the Fordyce winchill 3,4,5...Then...ride 37 miles to Washington.

YEP! Our "staging area" was @ Meadow Lake... I did record our GPS tracks from there to Washington Hotel, but the GPS is fairly new for me, and I have no clue as to how to upload them for you...?Rubicon_Rider wrote:Did you guys start at Meadow Lake?

Re: My Miyagi Photos
That's okay we can explore the area.
Meadow Lake looks like a nice place to camp, i wonder if i can get my 26ft toy hauler in there?
My Garmin Colorado GPS came with software that i installed and was able to see my tracks after hooking up the GPS via USB, then you can click a button to view in Google Earth if you have Google Earth installed on your computer. Then you can save and e-mail to your friends, it's pretty cool!

Re: My Miyagi Photos
Yes..you can get your 26' hauler there.....The road is dirt the last 10 miles...the last 4 is the worst...you just have to go slow. There have been larger haulers and 5th wheels than your 26'...so yes..

That's funny, Mike - when I left in the evening there were tons of frogs as I drove out. It was bizarre. THere were other things creeping across the road too, never did figure out what they were. In the dark, I had to go 4-6 mph on the rough section to avoid hitting the larger rocks and holes.
