850XP GULPING fuel
I went scouting the end of last week with the 850 and was amazed at how poor the fuel mileage was. We were riding easy, cursing between 8 and 20mph, very easy on the throttle all day. The gauge was dropping one bar every 10-12mi and at 50mi the lights were flashing. I made it back to the truck at 58mi and went home, the bike took 4.2gal to fill...she was dry.
I serviced the bike, new filters, oil, plug ect, then took it out this weekend for some hunting. I put 50mi going between locations and again the lights were flashing and I was out of fuel. My Dad on his 550 had a half a tank left on both days. Any thoughts on why this thing is gulping fuel?

Wow man, that's not good mileage! I easily get twice that on mine doing the same type of riding. I wonder if you have a cracked fuel line or a loose one? I can't imagine the bike running bad enough to burn twice as much fuel and not throwing some kind of error code.

Thats what im thinking too. May a leaking fuel filter etc. If it were running with more fuel it would run like shit and flood all the time.Kendo wrote:Wow man, that's not good mileage! You should throw a code and the wrench icon will be illuminated on the pod. Mine came on a couple of rides ago. When I took the plastic off to check it, I found that it had come unplugged. I don't think it was fully seated at the factory and it just bounced out. Plugged it back in and the quad runs perfectly again. Yours shouldn't be going bad already. The sensor is behind the plastic on the left (drivers) side of the quad. Fairly obvious.BruteForce wrote:MAP sensor going bad. How do I know? I now own a 2013 XP 850..
